Mentorship is more than just a component of Bible college education at the Jerusalem Bible Institute (JBI)—it’s the heartbeat of our approach. It shapes the spiritual, academic, and personal journeys of our students, preparing them to become the next generation of leaders in Israel.
First, at JBI, we believe in the importance of the role local congregations take in the spiritual growth of those in their community, and so we work together with the local congregations to work in the lives of each of our students. Each student selects their own personal mentor team to guide them through their educational and spiritual journey. This team includes a JBI faculty mentor and a personal mentor from their local congregation. This personalized approach ensures that each student receives support tailored to their unique needs and experiences from home life, post-army service, and personalities.
Second, mentorship at JBI is a crucial part of discipleship and spiritual growth. Our mentors are seasoned followers of Yeshua who commit to walking alongside students as co-learners. This relationship allows students to explore their faith openly, ask questions, and deepen their spiritual understanding. The ongoing support from mentors helps students navigate both the challenges and triumphs of their spiritual journey and within the context of living in the midst of conflict and war that surrounds us daily. This blend of mentorship from JBI staff and the local congregation helps create a nurturing environment where students are held accountable in their spiritual lives and as they serve Yeshua in this Land.
Third, we know that it will have a lasting impact. The relationships formed through mentorship at JBI are for a lifetime. The wisdom and encouragement students receive help influence and shape students long after they graduate. As Israel is a small country, and very relational in culture, meeting for a cup of coffee or chatting on the phone for advice, prayer or a quick update, JBI staff are always happy to hear from their students as they lead in Israel and support them as they lead in Israel.
For us at JBI, mentorship is not just an educational tool but a vital part of forming Messianic leaders who will impact our nation for Yeshua. We are dedicated to giving our students the foundation they need to learn, grow, and serve. May we see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in these days, our sons and daughters prophesy, and this next generation of Israelis be an integral part of revival in this Land.
